Manatee County is seriously considering closing the Central Library. The library is a tremendous facility that has been utilized by the entire county for over 40 years…and continues to be a vital resource for our community. A group of concerned citizens has organized to voice concerns to both the City and the County and we need your help. We encourage you to reach out to your elected officials and voice your concerns, in writing and/or by phone.
Please see the links below for helpful information on saving the library.

If you want the library to stay downtown, please obtain a library card and start using the library. This can be easily accomplished online at: Get a Library Card
Our library provides more than books and is utilized by people of all ages. Did you know you can take classes free of charge, reserve a study room, hold a meeting in one of the meeting rooms at no charge if you are a not-for-profit. Check out tools, cake pans, musical instruments, hot spots, museum passes and a plethora of other items. The Central Library also has recently opened a Sound Lab that can be reserved for recording podcasts, music and learning about sound equipment.
