CITY OF BRADENTON REGARDING REZONING:
• While I am not in favor of the County closing the Downtown Central Library and have informed the County Commissioners of this, in the event a sale transpires, I request that you do not rezone the property.
• A 20 story mixed use building on this site would affect vehicular traffic and foot traffic in an area that already struggles to handle the amount of traffic it currently has.
• While a developer may profit significantly from T-6 zoning, the developer is not the one living in the area and will not be the one who will have to deal with the consequences of a 20 story mixed use building.
• The City has always considered what a high rise would look like from the Bradenton’s waterfront perspective and has limited other buildings in the same area to no more than 8 stories. Why the sudden change?
• Will the City take into consideration the impact of a 20 story mixed use building on this property… not only from a traffic perspective, but also from the perspective of providing services such as sewer, water, etc.
• Most people I talk to say the reason they came to Bradenton is because it does not have high rise buildings and some have actually moved away from Sarasota to Bradenton because of this.
• Thousands of people use the Central Library in its current attractive location with programs for a wide range of interests and age groups. They too bring economic activity to the downtown area.
• In close proximity to one another, the Library and Bishop Museum provide an excellent hub for educational programs for students. Bishop Museum and the Library have the potential to become powerful partners for STEM/Entrepreneurship educational programs. Currently, both are centrally located, and within easy walking distance for many residents. In addition, the Riverwalk provides many neighborhoods with a convenient walking path to the Library and Museum. STEM/ Entrepreneurship programs will have a lasting long-term impact on growth and vitality of Bradenton's Economy.
• In terms of overall planning, the Central Library provides a good transition buffer between the quiet residential community west of Spring Hill Suites and the noisy commercial area east of Spring Hill Suites. Locating a 20 story mixed use building close to residences is inconsiderate and unconscionable.
• During the construction of a high-rise building, the construction activity will have a significant impact on the neighboring buildings! The impact will be noise, dust, and possible damage due to shifts in the ground structure, and vibrations when laying the foundation with heavy machinery? Is there a plan to compensate the neighboring homes for possible damage? How will this damage be controlled?.
• I am a resident of Westminster and am very distressed that there is conversation surrounding closing the Downtown Central library and the possibility of changing the zoning of the property from T-5 to T-6.
• As a resident of Westminster (population over 500), the Downtown Central Library is easily accessible whether walking or taking the Westminster motorized cart. It is frequently used by many of us who live at Westminster.
• There will be even more demand for the library by my community once the new Westminster buildings are built in Point Pleasant.
• In terms of overall planning, the Central Library provides a good transition buffer between the quiet residential community west of Spring Hill Suites and the noisy commercial area east of Spring Hill Suites. Locating a 20 story mixed use building close to residences is inconsiderate and unconscionable.
• In the past, the City has limited other buildings in the same area to no more than 8 stories. Why the sudden change?
• A 20 story mixed used building on this property would create significant traffic and noise issues and would also burden utilities such as sewer, water, etc. • The Central Library provides important services to Bradenton residents.
• Would Members of the City Council like to have a 20 story mixed use building right next to their residences?
• A large commercial building on this site would impact vehicular traffic and foot traffic in an area that already struggles to handle the amount of traffic it currently has.
